About Joseph's

Joseph's Pizza and Italian Restaurant has been a Jackson staple for over 20 years (Long-time residents will remember when it was Vesuvio's Pizza that occupied the location until the early 1990's). The restaurant was named after current owner Joseph Varriale when he was only a small child.

The family has always had a love affair with cooking, stretching back to their origins in Naples, Italy. Like his father before him (and his grandfather before that), young Joseph would spend his whole life in the restaurant business. At 13 years old, he started working at his uncle Enzo's place, Caffe Italia in Toms River. Then he went on to manage Peter and Sal's Italy's Best in Lakehurst. After many years of experience running a restaurant, Joseph was finally ready to open the first restaurant of his own, Joey's Place, in 2007.

In early 2015, Joseph's father was looking to get out of the restaurant business. Joseph, now with decades of experience, had a lot of fresh ideas for how his namesake restaurant could be improved. He was also now raising a young Joseph of his own. So with high hopes, he purchased Joseph's Pizza and Italian Restaurant from his dad, in April of 2015.

The challenge of running two successful restaurants is a welcome one. In fact, he may even open a third someday...
